Far from being the first reality show production attempted by producers Ron and Brendan, Survivor Otter Creek was preceded by a three-day production the year before, Survivor Weekend.  Traveling further into the past, back into Ron's high school days, he regularly ran reality-TV inspired competitions out of the school's conference rooms, classrooms, or entirely online.

About Survivor Weekend

On June 4, 2003, 10 teenagers from Belleville, Ontario set foot at their new home in Plainfield.  For the next three days they battled in reward and immunity challenges, against the elements, hunger and each other.  Aaron May came out as the unsuspecting victor on Day 3 in a close 4-3 vote against runner-up Jesse Hewitt.

The game began with the participants being divided into two tribes, Aquilo (north wind) and Notus (south wind.)  Day Two brought the tribes both a switch and a merge.  The new tribe, Sikarice, lasted until the final Tribal Council on Day 3.

The entire weekend was filmed, and in the following year, edited into eight episodes.  The two-disc Survivor Weekend DVD sets were distributed to all participants of the game.
